Fonts
Choose and manage the fonts used by generated documents.
Fonts
Fonts are catalog resources used by themes and templates. Manage them centrally so the editor and PDF renderer use the same font definitions.
Use an available font
System fonts are available in the system catalog. Customer fonts appear in the catalogs where they were uploaded. In the theme or template editor, choose a font from the font-family picker; available weights and italic faces are resolved automatically when text is rendered.
Subscribed-catalog fonts can be used but are read-only. Upload and delete operations are available only for Authored catalogs.
Upload a font family
- Open Fonts and choose Upload Font.
- Select an Authored catalog.
- Enter a lowercase slug, display name, and kind (Sans, Serif, Mono, Condensed, or Display).
- Add one face for each file, selecting its weight and whether it is italic.
- Upload the family.
Font faces must be valid TTF or OTF files. WOFF and WOFF2 files are not supported. Provide the weights and italic faces your documents use; when an exact weight is unavailable, Epistola selects the nearest available face.
Apply a font
- Open a theme or template variant in the editor.
- Select the text, block style, or document style to change.
- Choose the font family from the font picker.
- Set any required weight or italic styling.
- Preview the variant and generate a sample document to verify the result.
Before publishing
Check that:
- The font matches the organization style guide.
- Bold and italic text look correct.
- Long names and tables remain readable.
- The font is allowed for the documents you generate.
- Every required face is uploaded. Check regular, bold, italic, and bold-italic text separately.
- The font is available in the catalog used by the template or theme.
Good practice
Manage fonts centrally through themes. Avoid changing fonts directly in many templates unless the document has a specific exception. When replacing a font family, preview and republish affected templates so the generated output is intentional.
