Editor overview

The visual editor is where you build the document that readers will see. Add blocks to the canvas, arrange them in the structure tree, and use the PDF preview to check the result with realistic data.

Understand the workspace

• Block palette: choose text, headings, tables, images, fields, and page-level blocks to insert.
• Canvas: edit the content and formatting of the selected block.
• Structure tree: review the document order and move blocks into the right position.
• PDF preview: check the rendered document beside the editor.

Build a document

1. Open the template and select an existing draft, or create a new draft.
2. Open the editor and choose an example with realistic data.
3. Add the blocks you need from the block palette.
4. Edit each block on the canvas and arrange the document in the structure tree.
5. Add headers, footers, and page breaks when the page layout requires them.
6. Open the PDF preview regularly while you work.
7. Save the draft while editing; publish it only after the content and layout are approved.

Choose the right block

Use ordinary text and headings for fixed wording. Use fields when content comes from template data, tables for repeated rows, and stencils for fragments that should stay consistent across templates. Use managed images from the image picker instead of pasted screenshots so images remain maintainable.

Check the PDF preview

Preview with more than one realistic example. Check page breaks, long names and addresses, repeated rows, optional paragraphs, images, headers, and footers. The editor canvas shows your structure; the preview shows what the generated PDF will actually look like.

Prepare the template

Fields and example data are configured on the template detail page, not in the visual editor. Set up the data the template needs before doing detailed layout work. When the draft is ready, save it for further editing or publish the approved version for use in generation.
