Terms of use

These terms are set by Epistola Nederland B.V. (Chamber of Commerce number 42127724). They apply when you use our website epistola.app, an Epistola account, the demo environments or our learning materials, and you accept them by doing so.

If you have an agreement with us for support, hosting, training or other services, that agreement takes precedence over these terms.

Epistola is open source. The Epistola Suite is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). The API contract and the Valtimo plugin are licensed under the European Union Public Licence v1.2 (EUPL-1.2).

Your rights to use, change and share the software come from those licences, not from these terms. Contributions are welcome on GitHub.

Unless stated otherwise, the public content of this website is licensed under Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0: you may share and adapt it for non-commercial purposes, if you credit Epistola and share it under the same licence.

That licence does not cover the Epistola name and logo, the logos of other organisations, or the protected learning materials described below.

Use a working email address and keep your sign-in details to yourself: you are responsible for what is done with your account.

We may suspend or remove an account that is used against these terms. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@epistola.app.

The demo environments are for trying out Epistola. They are offered as they are: they may be unavailable, contain errors, or be changed, reset or removed at any time, together with everything you made in them.

• Do not use the demos for real work, and do not enter personal, confidential or production data.
• Do not try to break into or overload the demos, reach other people’s workspaces, or use the demos to create or send unlawful content.

We may limit or end access to the demos if they are misused.

Some learning materials are only available to signed-in users with the right access. You may use them within your own organisation, but you may not share, publish or sell them. The Creative Commons licence of the public website does not apply to them.

Support, hosting, training and other paid services are covered by separate agreements, which set out service levels, prices and responsibilities. See Pricing for what we offer.

We offer the website, Epistola accounts, the demo environments and the free learning materials free of charge and as they are.

To the extent the law allows, Epistola Nederland B.V. and the contributors to Epistola are not liable for damage caused by using them, including the loss of anything you made in a demo environment. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

Dutch law applies to these terms. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.
